HEAVEN AND HELL COLLIDE IN
REQUIEM: WRATH OF THE FALLEN
LONDON - (September 6 1998) ECTS,
Stand #G360 - Requiem Wrath of the
FallenΓäó. is the next generation in
first-person action games for the PC.
Taking the genre to new heights,
Requiem introduces incredible
technology, a story line of a biblical
nature and rich character interactions
within a stunning world.
The story line, based on Milton's
classic 'Paradise Lost', revolves around
the holy battle between Heaven's
chosen soldiers and Hell's fallen
demons. Players assume the role of
the lead character, a Chosen angel
named Malachi, blasting through
futuristic settings and interacting with
other characters in dynamic
environments. As an angel, you'll
harness wholly original attacks and
defenses as you strive to save
humanity from the clutches of the
Fallen.
"Requiem is the next big thing in first
person shooters. In fact it is to first
person shooters what sound was to
silent film, in that Requiem creates a
whole new level of depth, texture and
richness in a genre that really hasn't
seen much innovation in years," said
Helmut Kobler, General Manager,
Cyclone Studios. "In a few years all 3-D
shooters will evolve to this point, or
shrink into obscurity. But right now, it's
games like Requiem that are breaking
all the new ground to get us there."
The self-perpetuating nature of the
Requiem environment required a
robust, new engine to be built from the
ground up. The Cyclone Studios team
embarked on a two and a half year
labor of love to develop the most
advanced 3-D engine to date. This
groundbreaking technology enabled a
multitude of humans, supernatural
creatures and objects to interact in an
incredibly detailed world. Shadows,
explosions and real time lighting
effects are more detailed than any
other first-person shooter on the
market. A revolutionary and complex
skeletal system utilizes hybrid models
with both rigid and soft body parts to
allow for seamless, morphing joints
and robotic, non-morphing parts.
Characters wipe bars, use their
hands to gesture, take damage at
every angle and crawl when hit.
Characters express emotion in 25
uniquely natural animations, giving
new meaning to the term "character
interaction."
o Angelic Powers- Deploy a holy
arsenal of devastating angelic powers
such as: Possession, Locust Swarm,
Walk on Water, Turn to Salt, Blood boil.
o Real Character Interaction- The story
unfolds through dialogue with the
characters you meet. Not all characters
in the Requiem world are hostile, nor
do all circumstances dictate
destruction.
o Lifelike Environments- Travel across
Creation to city streets, churches,
hotels, subways, and bars, as well as a
huge intergalactic spaceship, the
Leviathan.
o Stunning 3D Action- All the adrenaline
of top notch shooters, but with the
added depth of having to discover
clues, meet and talk with other
characters in the world, and think
before you kill.
o Network Play- supports eight angels
and demons, where angelic powers
make for multi-player action that is
literally not of this world.
